Bio: Deb started in healthcare as a nursing assistant 30 years ago. Attended Anoka Ramsey Community College and received her associates degree in 1991. Began her career as an RN at North Memorial Medical Center than moved to Crosslake, Minnesota in 1992. At that time took a position at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minnesota. Worked in various positions within the medical center including OB, labor and delivery ER, ICU and medical surgical area. In 2002 moved into surgery and worked in the PACU/Outpatient department as a staff nurse. In 2007 took a position as the patient care coordinator supervising outpatient, PACU and pre operative education areas. Most recently accepted a position as the director of surgical services. Deb is CPAN certified and holds the secretary position on the MNDAKSPAN board. |

Bio: Ginny Maruish - Received her MSN from the University of Kentucky in 1977. Staff Nurse - University of Kentucky - Hematology/Oncology. Assistant Head Nurse - University of Kentucky - Telemetry. Assistant Professor of Nursing - Morehead State in Kentucky. Staff Nurse - ICU in Minneapolis and ER in Burnsville, MN. Since 1992 she been a staff nurse at SDS and PACU in Burnsville. Goals as Director of Education are to promote certification and to encourage nurses to join ASPAN and attend conferences. |

Bio: I graduated from Carroll College in Helena, MT in 2000. I moved to Rochester, MN where I worked in a Thoracic and Vascular ICU for 6 years before joining the PACU staff. I graduated with my Masters degree in Nursing from the University of Phoenix in 2006 and obtained my CPAN certification in 2008. Currently I am the Nursing Education Specialist for Urology, 12 hour, and night staff in Surgical Services. |

Served as Chair for Policy, Procedure, Process. Design and Development Committee. Organization Citizenship. Governing Council at Gillette Hospital. MOLA’s Nurses Day on the Hill. |

Board Member Karissa Brinkman |
Education: I received my BSN from the Tri-College Nursing Consortium- NDSU. Professional Experience: I started my nursing career as a staff nurse on a surgical/ambulatory surgery unit at the Fargo VAMC. While at the Fargo VAMC, I also worked in their Urgent Care department and Endoscopy suites, where I eventually accepted a full-time position. In 2003, I transferred to the VA Northern California Health Care System, where I continued to work primarily in Endoscopy. In 2004, I became a RN in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, CA. While there, I spent many hours working in the PACU as well. In 2006, I ventured back to the Midwest as a PACU Travel RN, working at Unity Hospital. When my traveling contract ended, I took a position at the Minnesota Valley Surgery Center, in Burnsville, MN. In January 2010, I became the PACU Supervisor and Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Coordinator for the Minnesota Valley Surgery Center. In January 2011, the Minnesota Valley Surgery Center opened their Extended Recovery Care Unit, which I now also supervise. Become More Involved
Have you thought about becoming more involved in MNDAKSPAN? Elections are held every year.
On even years the Board positions that open are: Director of Certification, Director of Governmental Affairs, Director of Membership/Marketing , and Treasurer.
On Odd years: Secretary, Director of Education, Directory of Publication and Vice President/President elect.
Each position is a 2 year commitment with the exception of VP/President elect which is a 4 year commitment ( 1 year VP, 2 years President, 1 year Past President). Any member of MNDAKSPAN can run for office. It is a great way to meet new people, advocate for your practice and have fun.
